ABOUT US
The Black Youth Helpline (BYH) is a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization governed by a Board of Directors. The organization serves all youth but specifically responds to the need for a Black youth specific service, positioned and resourced to promote access to culturally appropriate supports for youth and their parents.
The Black Youth Helpline is modelled after the highly successful Black Youth Helpline Manitoba which was established in that province in 1992.
 | OUR OBJECTIVES To help prevent social, emotional and psychological breakdown and ultimately violence and crime in the youth population. To ensure access to needed assessment, intervention and supports for youth and parents. BYH focuses on understanding and addressing the root causes of problems. To help maintain youth in the regular school system or to guide youth in other development education activities. To provide a culturally appropriate and relevant nucleus of support for youth and their parents. |
